Trip Summary

The Salmon River Thrill Seeker is the best way to experience the incredible variety of options on our beautiful river.  For the first half of the day, paddle yourself in an inflatable kayak through the pristine pools and moderate whitewater of the morning section above Riggins Idaho.  Paddle next to foxes playing near the river and float under the osprey as they soar over the river fishing. Take on some adventure and paddle yourself through the class II and low III rapids of the Salmon River in your own inflatable kayak while following our guides will teach you the skills and show you the lines.  Our custom designed kayaks and knowledgable guides will help make sure you have the tools you need to become a whitewater inflatable kayaker.

Mid-day the group paddles into our shop in Riggins where everyone walks up to the lawn to enjoy a nice relaxing BBQ lunch with a view overlooking the river. During lunch the group swaps out gear and prepares to raft as a group through the bigger class III and even class IV rapids of the afternoon section of the Salmon River. This trip includes numerous large rapids like the huge waves of Time Zone, tight squeeze, Traps and black rock.

The Salmon River thrill seeker is the trip for the group who can’t decide on the experience they want so they choose to do it all.  Sign up today and come out to experience the best parts of going on the river; taking on new challenges paddling yourself and having the chance to work with your friends and family together in one boat.

Please meet at our shop in Riggins around 8:30am MOUNTAIN STANDARD TIME.

Here we will get everyone the needed gear for the day before loading up in the van for a 15 minute drive upstream.  At the put-in your guide will give you an orientation showing you how to use the inflatable kayaks.  The morning includes a number of fun and splashy rapids that will test your inflatable kayaking skills.

Around mid-day the group floats into the eddy in front of the Orange Torpedo Trips shop.  Here the group walks up to the lawn where a BBQ lunch is awaiting you.  Relax and take in the river views while enjoying some food straight off the bbq.  After lunch we swap gear and go through another orientation on the paddle raft before loading in the bigger boats for the large class III and IV rapids of the afternoon.

Around 4pm the group will arrive at Lucile boat ramp where the van will be waiting to return everyone to our store in Riggins.

Yes, while it is very rare rafts can flip, especially in class III or IV whitewater.  What is more common (while still relatively un-common) is folks can fall out the side of the raft.  In this case other participants or the guide will typically pull the person quickly back into the boat.  We cover what to do in this scenario in our trip orientation at the put-in.

On the morning portion of this trip most participants are paddling inflatable kayaks.  Paddling kayaks greatly increases the odds you end up swimming in a rapid. We will cover in the orientation what to do if this happens to you.

Gratuity is certainly not required but it is appreciated by our staff.  Standard restaurant amounts have become the industry standard.
